What Is the MSYSA Junior State Cup?
The MSYSA Junior State Cup is designed to provide the highest quality of competition for Michigan teams in the U10 - U12 age groups. Many of these teams aspire to play in the US Youth Soccer National League Conferences (NLC) or the Michigan State Premier Soccer Program (MSPSP) when they are older. In fact, the Junior State Cup provides the U12 Director's Academy teams one pathway for NLC endorsement at U13.
What is the MSYSA State Cup?
The MSYSA State Cup is the first level of competition for two (2) US Youth Soccer competitions.
In State Cup, there are now two divisions. The top division (Elite Division) is expected to be comprised mostly of teams that participate in the NLC and MSPSP Premier 1. U13 - U19 teams in the Elite division will be competing to earn spots at the US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional Championships and potentially National Championships.
The next division is the Premier Division and it is expected to be comprised mostly of teams that participate in MSPSP (except P1) and other select leagues around the state. U13 - U18 teams in the Premier Division will be competing to earn spots at the US Youth Soccer Midwest President's Cup and potentially National President's Cup.
Regardless of division, each team will play 3 or 4 self-scheduled preliminary games. Teams who do well will advance to the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and then eventually the Finals.
U14 - U19 Girls teams participate in the Fall State Cup and U13 Girls teams participate in the Spring State Cup.
U13 - U19 Boys teams compete in the Spring State Cup. For the 2020-2021 seasonal year only, the oldest age group will include U20 (2001) players. However, due to the format of the US Youth Soccer President's Cup, any team who participates in the PREMIER Division of the MSYSA State Cup and who has any U20 (2001) players on their State Cup roster will not be eligible to participate in the Midwest President's Cup or National President's Cup.
The purpose of WMYSA is to educate, develop and encourage the growth of competitive soccer in Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana through cooperative efforts of the various community programs. WMYSA shall not interfere with existing recreational and development programs in the area.

This affiliation will permit relationships with similar programs in Michigan and the Midwest to provide the opportunity for players and teams to participate in USYSA sanctioned tournaments. WMYSA shall assume responsibility for maintaining a high caliber of play through the selection of players through an open tryout process and through the training and certification of both referees and coaches by the United States Soccer Federation [USSF].

To this end it shall affiliate itself with the Michigan Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA), the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), the Michigan Soccer Association (MSA) and the United States Amateur Soccer Association (USASA), and shall abide by all rules and regulations of such organizations, in so far as they applicable to the League. All games of soccer played under the auspices of GVSA shall be conducted in accordance with The Laws of the Game, as published by FIFA.
